Sentences
A sentence is a group
of words which gives / makes a complete meaning is called sentence
Eg:
I am going to Chennai.
There
are four kinds of sentence :-
They
are
1. Assertive
/ Declarative / Statement sentence
i)
Affirmative sentences
ii)
Negative sentence
2. Interrogative
sentence
i) Yes / no type question
ii) “Wh” type question
i) Yes / no type question
ii) “Wh” type question
3. Imperative
sentence
4. Exclamatory
sentence
1. Statement
sentence :-
It declares (or) it gives some information-
it always starts with capital letter and ends with full stop.
Eg:
I will come to college tomorrow.
2. Interrogative
sentence:-
An interrogative sentence is used to ask
question is called interrogative sentence.
Eg:
what is your name?
i) Yes
/ no type question:-
Eg: It is answered to the questions “yes
(Or) No”
It
always starts with auxiliary verbs.
Eg: do you like an apple?
ii) “Wh”
question type
It
gives full information.
It
always starts with question words
Eg:
[what, when, where, why, how,…etc]
Where are you going?
3. Imperative
sentence
An imperative sentence expresses a request, an advice, command, order, suggestion is called imperative sentences.
An imperative sentence expresses a request, an advice, command, order, suggestion is called imperative sentences.
Eg:
Don’t talk (order)
Please help me (request)
Don’t waste your time (advice)
4. Exclamatory
sentences
An exclamatory sentences expresses one’s strong feelings (Or) emotions of joy, sorrow, surprise, wonder is called an exclamatory sentence.

Eg:
How beautiful the taj is!
Alas! I have missed my bus.
